The Roseland Historical Society is seeking experienced and qualified candidates for the position of Live-In Caretaker & Museum Consultant. This position is perfect for self-guided museum professionals seeking to build experience in all aspects of modern museum and historical society management. Applicants will be interviewed in November and the position will start January 2026.
The Roseland Historical Society is a local-history centered 501(c)(3) devoted to the preservation of the history of Roseland, New Jersey. RHS is the stewards of the 1824 Historic Williams-Harrison House, the late 19th century Becker Farmhouse, and the 1960s Becker Center. The Becker Farmhouse is privately rented.
Job Duties:
Manage Social Media & Grow Engagement
Curate and Manage Local History Archives, Artifacts, and Library
Organize and Execute a Calendar of Events
Administer Grant Applications
Prepare Material for Board of Directors Meetings
Run Educational Programing
Manage Membership Renewal and Growth
Monitor Physical Condition of Historic Properties
Requirements:
BA in History or Related Field
2-5 Years Professional Experience in Museum/Archives/Education
Compensation:
This is a contracted position with a monthly contract invoiced to the RHS. Compensation includes on-site housing in the 1824 Historic Williams-Harrison House.
